An estimate to help you understand the numbers. No purchase is made. Bitcoin’s value can fall, and you can lose the money you spend.

Every number,
in the open.
The fee graphic shows the share of your budget available to convert. It does not represent a return or a price forecast.
Start with the full amount
Your budget includes the percentage fee and any fixed charge you enter.
Subtract the estimated fees
Fees = budget × percentage ÷ 100 + fixed fee. Fees are rounded to the selected currency’s smallest unit.
Convert the amount left
Effective price = reference price × (1 + spread ÷ 100). BTC = (budget − fees) ÷ effective price. The result is rounded down to eight decimal places; one Bitcoin contains 100 million satoshis.
A few useful details.
Is this the price I will pay?
No. Coinbase’s spot price is a market reference, not an executable purchase quote. Your provider may use a different rate, add a spread, or charge for payment and withdrawal. For a closer estimate, select “Use my own price per Bitcoin” and enter your provider’s quoted rate and fees. Avoid adding a spread twice if it is already included in that rate.
How current is the price?
We request a quote when you open the calculator, change currency, or select “Refresh price,” and every minute while the page is visible. “Last fetched” is the time this browser received the response, not an exchange trade timestamp. Prices can change between updates. If a refresh fails, any retained quote is clearly labeled; quotes older than five minutes are excluded from the calculation.
Are all costs included?
Only the percentage and fixed fees and price markup you enter. The percentage is applied to the whole budget, and both fees are deducted from it. Actual provider formulas can differ. The entered spread increases the reference price. Bank charges and withdrawal costs are not automatically added. Bitcoin network fees are not a percentage of the amount sent. Read the Bitcoin fees guide for the full picture.
What happens to the amounts I enter?
The calculation happens in your browser. We do not send your budget or fee entries to the price provider or save them on our server. Loading a market price sends the currency pair and standard connection information to Coinbase. Read our privacy notice for information about price feeds and optional analytics.
